30 Nov 2013
This is book 4 in a series, you can read my review for book 1 here - http://bookishtreasures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/review-of-witchblood.html

WitchHunt by Emma Mills

Synopsis

As the Christmas season is ripped apart by the news that Jess’ old friend Alex has been turned into a vicious killer, festivities are dropped, Jess returns to England and the hunt begins.

But Alex isn’t the only one being hunted, for Mary has found a way to extinguish the entire bloodline of Malden witches, and it is Jess’s book of shadows that’s the key.

As things hot up, Jess finds she must leave Daniel and the safety of Manchester in a final hunt for her nemesis, Mary. In a fight-off that only one of them can survive, loved ones will fall… daemons will rise… but who will survive?

Review

It is always hard to say farewell to a beloved series. It often also hard to read the final book because of the worry that you won’t like the ending and it won’t do the series justice. You don’t need to have those worries with WitchHunt.

The ending is very satisfying and ties up all the loose ends from the previous books into a perfect little bow. It is a shame to say goodbye to these characters and this world but the book does end in a way that means it could possibly be revisited in the future if the author chooses to write more books. (Fans can cross their fingers and hope.) Personally I would love a book or two about Britt and what she gets up to next. That girl obviously can’t stay out of trouble!
My only slight disappointment is how things ended with Alex. Not only was it not what most people would have liked but it felt really rushed and I simply wanted more.

Overall this is a great end to a fantastic series and if you haven’t yet read Witchblood then I highly recommend you do!
