Review of Waiting on Forever

Synopsis

Review

Although this is the second book in the Forever series, I had never read the other books previously. This book can be read as a stand-alone and is still easy to follow and understand.

Overall, I would have to say this book is really enjoyable. The story though at times can feel a little quick, almost rushed and because of the pace of the novel, the story seemed a little unbelievable. One second Matt and Leah are barely friends, the next they are dating and in love with each other. Despite the quick pace, the storyline is what makes the book good. 

That being said, I really liked the storyline. Matt and Leah meet at orientation and keep up an online friendship until Matt transfers into Leah’s French class. He convinces her to help him with his French and spend time with him. In the blink of an eye, he is asking Leah to hangout at the football teams house with Matt’s friends from home. Leah finds herself feeling insecure in her feelings for Matt, while he considers her his girlfriend. Once they are on the same page, the story goes quick with Matt and Leah easily falling into their relationship, with only a minor hick-up.

Although the description makes it seam like there is drama involving their relationship, there is only one minor second of it. The story is not about the drama or dealing with how others react to their relationship. The description also makes it seem like Matt and Leah are best friends. They aren’t. When the story begins they are just online acquaintances who had met once before.

Matt is cute, often times swoon worthy as he brings the quiet and insecure Leah out of her shell. You can’t help but want the two to work out.

The book would be perfect if it was a little more drawn out. Everything was just too quick for my liking. I feel like I never completely felt like I was part of the characters lives. On the other hand, it was a nice story to watch unfold, and it did have its moments where I smiled, laughed or felt sad. Read this book for a quick, enjoyable story about two complete opposites.
